Oklahoma City
Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center turned its video-game-inspired exhibition into a night of play for the opening celebration for Open World on October 21, 2021. Along with the usual light bites, bubbly drinks, and photo ops there were arcade machines with old-school Nintendo games, console gaming like Cory Arcangel’s I Shot Andy Warhol, and even 8-bit-inspired music for the evening. Visitors to the museum were able to preview the nearly seventy works in Oklahoma Contemporary’s Eleanor Kirkpatrick Main Gallery by an international list of artists including Ueli Alder, JooYoung Choi, Oliver Payne, Suzanne Treister, Feng Mengbo, and Skawennati.
