Miami
Art Basel Miami Beach returned on December 2, 2021. The Miami Beach Convention Center saw 60,000 attendees over the two-day arts festival, where 253 international galleries presented paintings, sculptures, photography, and work across all media. Art Basel Live provided a digital programming reach to audiences who didn’t make it to Miami Beach, and video-archived Conversations panels explored topics like NFTs, post-pandemic artistic practices, immersive installations, the intersections of tech and art, and the challenges of pricing in the art market. Among the hustle and bustle of a newly energized audience, programs such as Meridians featured sixteen presentations that push the boundaries of a traditional art-fair layout, like Brendan Fernandes’ site-specific performance-based work; and Nova premiered twenty-five newly created works by Julien Creuzet, Felipe Mujica, and Ambera Wellmann.
