Barkley L. Hendricks Blood (Donald Formey) (1975)

BARKLEY L. HENDRICKS : Portraits at the Frick features a selection of Hendricks’ color-saturated, paintings. The 1970s-era painter—a forerunner to Kehinde Wiley—was influenced by the techniques of the Old Masters. In this exhibition, Hendricks’ modern figures juxtapose with the Frick’s storied collection, which fit together as the Frick makes its temporary home in the brutalist Breuer building on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
