Behind the Scenes

OKLAHOMA CITY is approaching a complete transformation in contemporary arts programming. Designed by architect Rand Elliott and realized by passionate art patrons, the new Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center—set to open in downtown Oklahoma City on March 13, 2020, after thirty years at the State Fairgrounds—energizes Oklahoma as a leader for accessible, creative experiences. Here are the people who made it happen.

The building of the new Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center has been a ten-year endeavor, spearheaded by Christian Keesee and led by dozens (if not hundreds) of community arts advocates. Eddie Walker, left, joined the team in 2019 as executive director and Jeremiah Matthew Davis, right, joined as artistic director in 2016. Here, we look at many of the key people involved in the efforts to build this exciting new regional arts center.
