Great and Small
On October 23, 2018, Kirkpatrick Foundation will publish Love Can Be: A Literary Collection About Our Animals. Thirty acclaimed authors from all walks of the literary world contributed to this book. Writers including Dean Koontz, Susan Orlean, and Blake Bailey ruminate on the dogs that changed their lives, and Ursula K. Le Guin and Joyce Carol Oates celebrate the feline in poems. Love Can Be features a menagerie of essays about raccoons, baboons, and a tribute to Sudan, the last male white rhinoceros on earth who died earlier this year. Love Can Be is a philanthropic endeavor, and all net proceeds will go to six animal charities based in Oklahoma: Bella Foundation, the Enid SPCA, the Tulsa SPCA, the Joan Kirkpatrick Animal Hospital at the Oklahoma City Zoo, Tulsa Audubon Society’s WING-IT program, and WildCare. kirkpatrickfoundation.com, oupress.com
