THIS MAJOR TOURING show on the Venezuelan American artist Marisol Escobar—best known as just Marisol—makes its final stop in Dallas. Although a major figure of 1960s Pop Art for her mixed-media totemic sculptures, she was overlooked compared to her male peers in the subsequent decades before she died in 2016 and left her entire estate to the Buffalo AKG Art Museum, which organized this survey. Works from across her career are on display, from her large-scale wooden sculptures to archival material contextualizing how she borrowed from both folk art and pop culture. – ALLISON MEIER

Marisol: A Retrospective will be on view at the Dallas Museum of Art through July 6, 2025. dma.org
