John Newsom’s mid-career retrospective opened at Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center on March 24. The exhibition featured thirty-one paintings from the past two decades of the Oklahoma-raised artist’s career, filling the Eleanor Kirkpatrick Gallery with colorful, large-scale works of plants, animals, and geometric shapes. On March 25, actor and director Matt Dillon joined Newsom in conversation to talk about mixed-media art making and their shared Oklahoma experience.
