Twenty years after launching as the first stateside sister event to the marquee Swiss art fair that began in 1970, Art Basel Miami Beach 2022 took over the Miami Convention Center in South Florida last December for a week of big sales, big parties, and big surprises. The latest visual-art blowout featured more than 200 galleries, from established players like London's White Cube to emerging newcomers like the Indigenous-owned K Art from Buffalo, New York, and the Rolf Art Gallery of Buenos Aires, Argentina. For the first time, ArtDesk magazine was included in the Magazines sector of Art Basel.
