Honor Roll

The first major retrospective for internationally recognized artist Edgar Heap of Birds (Cheyenne and Arapaho Nation) opened on February 20, 2025, at the Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center. More than 400 guests attended the opening of Hock E Aye Vi: Edgar Heap of Birds: HONOR SONG, a campus-wide installation dedicated to over four decades of work addressing Indigenous rights, sovereignty, and relationships to place. A powerful drum ceremony began the celebration, and another notable moment occurred when Oklahoma City mayor David Holt declared February 20, 2025, “Edgar Heap of Birds Day.”
