My favorite part of my job is actually standing up from my desk and getting out to report in the field. So around my desk in the newsroom, you’ll find all kinds of stuff I’ve carried home from far-flung assignments: North Korean propaganda posters, a poster from a Russian election watchdog group, a sign from a protest in Tehran. They remind me there’s a big world out there, and to keep being curious about it.– MARY LOUISE KELLY
Since 2018, Mary Louise Kelly has anchored All Things Considered on National Public Radio. Throughout her career she has worked as a foreign correspondent, reporting from war zones and many far-flung locales. In 2004 she created NPR’s intelligence beat, reporting on the CIA and NSA in the wake of the September 11 attacks. Kelly is the author of two novels Anonymous Sources and The Bullet, and a memoir It. Goes. So. Fast.: The Year of No Do-Overs.
