ASIDE FROM JUST being the place where we put on our costumes, make up our faces, and pin our wigs, the dressing room is a space for other necessities in the creative process. It’s where we mentally and emotionally prepare to perform, and recover from that performance. Where we meditate on how to improve our work. Sometimes it’s where we get notes from the director or choreographer, or visit with friends. For me, it’s a deeply personal space where I can also safely rest my bones and my psyche.
